Buyers can choose from four different engine options on the Silverado 1500. The base unit is a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 310 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. It pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels.

The other engine options pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The 3.0-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engine produces 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Choose the 5.3-liter V-8 engine that pumps out 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque if you want more power. Your final option is a 6.2-liter V-8 engine rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.

Whether you keep your wheels on the road or take the truck off the beaten path, the Silverado 1500 has precise handling and a comfortable ride. Also, the towing capacity of this truck is impressive, putting it close to the top of the segment. When properly equipped with the available towing package and turbodiesel engine, the pickup can tow up to 13,300 pounds, which marks a 4,000-pound towing increase over the outgoing model.

Chevrolet designers also upgraded the cabin of the pickup truck for the 2022 model year. Standard equipment includes vinyl upholstery, rubber flooring, manual climate control, and a six-speaker sound system with a 7-inch touch screen and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay smartphone integration. All but the base trim come with a larger 13.4-inch touch screen.
