Road Trips from Topeka, KS - Cable Dahmer of Topeka

Topeka, KS is a historic capital city with a thriving arts and culture scene and many points of interest to visit. But what if you’ve seen and done it all? Might be time for a day trip out of town. Whether your drive is under a couple of hours or crossing state lines, there are plenty of awesome attractions to see on the many available road trips from the Topeka area.

Four State Lookout

Need to get out of the city for some fresh air? Located just a 90-minute drive north of Topeka in White Cloud, the Four State Lookout is worth it for the peaceful views. Leave town in the late afternoon and you’ll be able to catch the sunset over the Missouri River valley.

Coronado Heights Castle

Just two hours west of Topeka lies Coronado Heights Castle. It’s a great hiking spot to bring your family, and you’ll be rewarded with lovely views at the peak of the castle. Visitors recommend having a picnic at the tables while taking in the expansive horizon. Built in 1936, this historic area is humorously regarded as the only “hill” in Kansas.

Center of the Universe

Roughly 4 hours south of Topeka is the Center of the Universe. Well, it’s not officially in the heart of downtown Tulsa. But the strange phenomenon that exists here does make you feel like you’re truly at the center of everything. Standing in the middle of the paved concrete circle will reflect your voice in an echo back to yourself, but others cannot hear it. This acoustic anomaly is a memorable experience, and best of all, it’s free!

Fantastic Caverns

In Springfield, Missouri, you can take a Jeep-drawn tram ride through underground caves and take a gander at the glory of the one-of-a-kind Fantastic Caverns. You could easily spend a few magical hours learning from experienced and knowledgeable tour guides. Visitors love that the tours are accessible for people of all abilities and interesting to both children and adults.

Optimus Prime and Bumblebee Statue

Got a Transformers fan in your life? Head to Stillwater, Oklahoma and you can visit a huge statue of Optimus Prime. Bumblebee is just a short distance away. Both protectors are creatively crafted from spare car parts and are very detailed replicas of the real thing. Impressive, even if you’re not a Transformers fan yourself.

Uranus Missouri Towne Center

This quirky fun-town is entertaining to all who visit. There’s a general store with delicious taffy, candy, and fudge, as well as plenty of sideshows, attractions, and hilarious signs everywhere. Visit Uranus for the photo ops, and don’t forget to bring home some novelty souvenirs and snacks on your way out. You’ll definitely be leaving with a smile on your face.
